Since the release of Kodi 19.0 “Matrix”, there has been a lot of complaints about how most addons have stopped working. These became a headache to a lot of people because they have worked hard to get all the addons installed on their previous version of Kodi.
Kodi’s add-ons traditionally run in Python 2, which was first released in October 2000. Some years after release it was announced that Python 2 was scheduled to go end-of-life in 2015. Before they got there, though, the Python team realized that people were slow in making the switch, and decided to extend this EOL date further to 1st January 2020.
Kodi app developers announced in January 2018 that they would drop Python 2 support from Kodi in version 19. Given that they were on 17.x “Krypton” at the time, and that they hadn’t made any changes to Python since shifting to Python 2 in 2013.
Now the Kodi19 is fully running python 3 which is incompatible with most of the previous add-ons since they still run python 2. So if you want to continue to use those addons, you can decide not to update the Kodi to matrix 19 but rather remain on 18.9 Leia. But if you’ve already updated to 19, then see below some of the best working Kodi 19matrix addons as of July 2021.
