Whether you are techies or none techies, there are instances where you may be confused with the update of your iOS device.
For example, recently, a friend of mine was to update his iOS version to the latest version using the auto-update option on the iPhone, but the update couldn’t go through.
This friend was then looking for another way to update the iOS by contacting me.
After successfully taken him through the process, I realize there might be a lot of people out there looking for similar help.
Hence I decided to write this short article on how to update ios 14 using iTunes.
To update your iOS version to the current version, all you need to do is to make you sure you have the following:
- The latest version of iTunes
- Download the signed version of your device ipsw file
- A cable.
You can download the latest iTunes from the Apple page. Also, the ipsw file can be downloaded from the link below .
After getting these two Softwares, then you can follow the below steps to finish up the process.
Follow this link to download the iOS ipsw file. Once you’re on the page, you have to choose your platform and the phone type you want to update the iOS version.
Once you get the above file ready, you can then proceed to update your ios version.
To start, you first connect your iPhone to the computer using the Apple-supplied USB.
Now, open iTunes on your computer and wait for it to recognize and sync with your iOS device.
Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes.
Click on the Summary pane.
Click also the button to Check for Update.
If iOS 14 update is available, press and hold the shift key and then click the update button.
Now, a dialog box will appear, click on it to select the ipsw file you’ve downloaded earlier.
Now click on update to continue. You’ll ask to enter your password.
Enter your passcode if asked to continue.
From here, you can follow the rest of the onscreen steps to finish updating your iPhone in iTunes.
Once everything is set, you can then use your new updated iOS version with the new features.
